Hi there, I’m Mara and I’m happy you landed here!
My purpose here on earth is to reflect back to you what is hidden behind your fears. I help people discover their inner wisdom, and clarity, and have confidence in their lives by embracing a sober-curious lifestyle. Together, we do the deep work and we have loads of fun! It is our human gift to experience the whole range of human emotions and it is my deepest joy in helping others navigate the waters.
Here’s my story.
How it unfolded:
Going alcohol-free during major life transitions allowed me to gracefully navigate uncertainty and stay aligned with my personal values. My world did a 360 overnight and I was faced with the choice to rebuild myself. Here’s what happened: my relationship, career, and housing situation changed overnight, leaving me feeling out of control and lost. I was drowning in fear, doubt, unworthiness, confusion, heartbreak, and felt an overall loss in faith.
The backstory:
Growing up in a substance-heavy home, I witnessed the negative impact of alcohol, which fueled my curiosity about its role in my life. Unfortunately, I saw the ways alcohol and addiction could ruin someone's beautiful life and hold someone back from becoming their highest self.
Having witnessed the hardships faced by loved ones, I frequently would dip in and out of an alcohol-free lifestyle. Despite my skepticism, I would often make excuses to continue consuming alcohol to some extent because I didn’t struggle with addiction to alcohol. I’d often say things like, “I don’t drink that much,” or “how will I socialize?” and “what am I going to say when people ask?”
Change of events:
However, when life handed multiple changes at once, I heard a voice urging me to choose myself and fully embrace an alcohol-free lifestyle. Intuitively I knew it was an opportunity to go deeper in self-discovery and growth.
At the moment it was hard to see but I now believe the universe gifted me an opportunity to shed my old ways of being and redefine myself. I knew that in order to make the most of that gift I needed to live an alcohol-free lifestyle. I wanted to understand my deeper purpose and how I could use my innate talents to help others, I wanted to feel self-love the way others had talked about, and I wanted to trust in a greater life plan. Choosing an alcohol-free life during those transitions helped me make rational decisions, process emotions more effectively, develop healthier coping skills, form authentic connections, deepen self-reflection, build resilience, establish healthier habits, restore faith, and stay true to my values.
